“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery”
-A brief history behind the pieces that make up this design:
-The Spade : has a long history with the US Armed Forces and is probably most well known for its use by the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during the Normandy Invasion. It was also widely used for Psychological Warfare against the Vietcong. This was done by leaving an Ace of spades behind on a body because it was believed that to the Vietcong, the Spade represented Death.
-The Crescent Moon : has a long tradition tracing it's roots back to the Revolutionary War where it was flown on the Moultrie or, Liberty Flag at the Battle of Ft. Moultrie by the South Carolina Militia. In this significant battle, the British were defeated, preventing British occupation of the Southern Colonies for another two years.
-The Circle of 13 Stars : this of course comes from the Betsy Ross Flag, which was the first "Old Glory" officially adopted by Congress on June 14, 1777
